Meaning

A hymn by Tulsidas from the Vinay Patrika. O mind, worship the compassionate Shri Ramchandra, who removes the terrible fear of worldly existence; his eyes, face, hands and feet are like fresh red lotuses. His beauty surpasses countless Kamadevas; he is lovely as a fresh dark rain cloud, and his yellow garment shines like lightning; I bow to the pure husband of Janaki. Worship the friend of the humble, radiant as the Sun, destroyer of the demon clans, the joy of the Raghu line, the moon of Kosala and son of Dasharatha. He wears a crown, earrings and tilak, with ornaments on every limb; his arms reach his knees, he holds bow and arrow and conquered Khara and Dushana in battle. Tulsidas prays: you who delight the hearts of Shankar, Shesha and the sages, make your home in the lotus of my heart and destroy the band of wicked desires.
