Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Deva

Meaning

Glory to Lord Ganesha, son of Parvati and Mahadev. He has one tusk, is full of compassion, has four arms, wears sindoor on his forehead and rides a mouse. Betel leaves, flowers and dry fruit are offered to him, laddoos are his favourite offering and saints serve him. He gives sight to the blind, a healthy body to lepers, children to the childless and wealth to the poor. The poet Sur (traditionally Surdas) takes refuge in him, and the devotee asks the son of Shambhu to protect the humble and fulfil their wishes.

When it is recited

Sung first in every puja, since Ganesha is worshipped before all other gods, and daily through the Ganesh Chaturthi festival (Ganeshotsav).
